Another Week in Colombia

The group of missionaries leaving the Colombia Barranquilla Mission on 7/17/18

Elder David Fuell is on his way home.  We have enjoyed watching David learn the culture of Colombia and learn to love the people there.  His smile tells us that he loved the people he worked with and learned to appreciate a different way of life.  I know he has testified many times in these last two years about the truthfulness of the gospel and spent the last two years sharing that testimony of his.  We echo his testimony and am so glad David chose to go on a mission.  He didn't have to go.  He did not get paid and there is no earthly reward for dedicating your life for two years to the Lord.  But he went anyway!  We love David and are excited to learn of the things he experienced and the great people he taught and loved.  A las Colombianos que ayudaran a Elder Fuell, gracias y que Dios te bendigas siempre.

Con amor,
The Fuells

Well, we´re here.  The missions over, but the mission is just like a MTC for life so I feel much more prepared.  I´m super stoked to see you all.  I finished baptizing.  One on Tuesday and another on Saturday.  I left my area in Riohacha on Wednesday and I worked in Alfonso Lopez for a few days.  It was incredible.
So many stories you guys have no idea.  But I appreciate everything you have all done for me. I love you guys and I pray for you all the time.

2 Nephi 10:17 For I will fulfill my promises which I have made unto the children of men, that I will do unto them while they are in the flesh—

See you Tuesday!

Wow... This has been the craziest 2 years.

This last week has been a little rough.  I´ve really enjoyed the service and the people.  I had the pleasure of giving my last talk in Riohacha this last week.  I will be moving to Barranquilla for the next week in order to get all of my leaving in order.  About ten minutes ago I passed by the job on the beach of one of my converts Anderson and we were telling him that I am leaving this week and it felt super surreal.  We just walked along the beach for a little bit and I was thinking about a lot of stuff, but I can´t help but appreciate the beautiful earth that God has created.

The ocean breeze was blowing and the sand was in our face and in our hair.  The people were all smiling and nice like usual and the sun was setting over the ocean and the mixture of breeze and sunlight was perfect because it doesn´t feel too hot or too cold.  Only to have all of these beautiful things interrupted with a little child that runs up and asks us if we are Jehovah witnesses or Mormons haha.  But none of that seemed to matter.  The moment was captured, the memory was made and although many difficult experiences have been passed out here this one moment of peace and calmness conquered it all.  The testimony is strengthened, the faith determined, and the hope for a better world all the same.

I´m sure this all doesn´t seem to make sense or is a little weird, but these are the things I miss most.  The little things.

After sharing a talk with the branch on Sunday the Seminary teacher walked straight up to me and thanked me for the talk and told me that she hadn´t ever had a real opportunity to know me and that she was sad she couldn´t get to know me more.  She told me that the other day in her Seminary class she had asked her students of someone they looked up too and that is a good example for them in their lives.  She told me 90% of her class said me.  (With that said it should be known that there are max 10 students that attend seminary if we are lucky)  But she continued to tell me how grateful she is for my service and the example I have given to the youth in the branch.

As for the work we just found two families this last week.  One is a single mother that was leaving her house after Colombia lost in the world cup. (Yes we left that afternoon and it wasn´t a very easy night to contact people to teach) She asked us to pass by the next day.  So we went and we invited her to church.  She came. With her three children too.  That made me a little sad that after all my hard work we find a family that keeps commitments so easily in my last week.  But I hope to see the photos of future baptisms in the near future.  And in the little further future sealings in the temple of Colombia Barranquilla.

I love the gospel.
See you all soon.
