Two weeks of posts and only two weeks left

July 2, 2018

Sounds like everyone else is doing good.  I am also doing good.

I have been spending a lot of time in my house because of the world cup, but it's been some good study time and a lot of reflecting time.  Even though my companion and I haven't had a lot of time to get out to work we have a baptism this week and a possible baptism next week.  His name is Carlos. He's really cool.  He cracks me up.  He is 17 years old and he sometimes is really lazy, but he wants to improve in everything.  Since he is 17 his mom had to sign his permission this week to have his interview and when she went to sign it she stopped and said, "You know that this is a really important decision.  Are you sure you want to do this?" He looked down, put his face in his hands for like 5 seconds looked up at us and at her and said, "Sign it." Without even a look of hesitation in his face.  Then while she was writing it he said "No! I don't want to do it!" She looked up at him super worried and then he just smiled a huge grin and said, "just kidding"

It has been an adventure finding and teaching, baptizing, and confirming the people here in the coast of Colombia.

It still feels unreal.  Like I am not going home.  But I haven't looked back at anything with regret. I am finishing strong and I know it.  In fact my companion has been worried about me because he says all of his other companions focused in their houses a lot more than I have.  I just know that this time is unique.  It's not everyday I can promise someone eternal blessings for doing simple reading and church attendance.

I know there are plenty of people who stress out about the future, but
Like Carlos I look at my future with a huge grin and say, "Just kidding"

This week was an adventure in itself.  Because as some may know right now is the Soccer World Cup.  Colombia is participating and when they play we cannot do anything.  Because if they win they drink if they lose they drink if they tie I think you get the picture.  So we have been trapped in our house every morning and we normally leave to work after 12 or 3.  Some days we cannot leave at all.  It will continue like this until I go to Barranquilla and take a plane ride home.

I received a cool talk from the Bakers called Return with Honor.  I´ve read it before but it is something very special to me and I invite you all to read it if you get the chance.  It is a talk given by Elder Hales.  I plan on returning with honor.

We have 2 investigators that are very promising.  One named Carlos and the other Moises.  It´s like Moses, but in Spanish.

We are also teaching another Señor named Orlando.  He is great, but the lessons with him have been much slower because his wife is on her death bed and his faith has been a little shaken.

We work when we can, we pray always, we read always, we search always, with Faith, Diligence, and Attention. With Faith, Hope, and Charity.  With Faith, Sincerity, and Real Intent.

I will be arriving in Salt Lake 6:30pm (we hope) in three weeks.  This time will go by quickly.  I will give everything I´ve got.

A little story about Breaking into the House -

The other day two elders called us because they left their keys in their house.  So they called my companion and I to come and help them out.  I then proceeded to get on the shoulders of my companion and tried getting in through their window.  It wouldn´t open.  So we had to enter in through another window which was a little more dangerous because it was surrounded by wires and also a barbwire fence a little higher up.  So they gave me a small ladder helped me up and I pulled myself up through the window on their second floor.  We then went home and went to bed.  They called us from the number of other Elders like a half our later.  They had locked their keys in their apartment again.  But they left the other window open so they once again lifted me up and I pulled myself up to the second floor of their house and entered and unlocked the door from the inside.

So I now have experience breaking into a house.  It´s actually kind of fun, but I don´t want to make it a hobby.
