Wow

Wow.  That`s the word I would have to use to describe this week.  Wow for how fast it was.  Wow for how my Spanish has been improving.  Wow for the work that was done.  Wow for the days when I fell asleep immediately following my nightly prayers.

It was a great week.  With a few struggles, but that`s life.  We take everything one step at a time.

First off, I gave a talk in church this last week.  It was funny because Bishop Vargas didn`t tell me or Elder Peña before hand.  He just announced my name in the beginning of sacrament.  So Elder Peña and I walked into the hall said a prayer and I got up there and gave a talk about how Dios nos ama  (God loves us) y Evangelio bendice familias (Gospel blesses families).  The members were all super nice after.  They told me that I sounded like a Latino at some points so that was exciting.

Second, I have been having weird dreams this week.  I had a dream that I came home to visit you guys and you wouldn`t let me go back to Colombia.  I was really sad.  I thought that dream was really interesting.  I haven`t struggled with any home sickness since I have been here.  Sure I have the hard days and good days just like anywhere else and I seeing you guys, but nothing really traumatic.  But that dream just kind of recommitted my feelings for Colombia.  Because in that dream I was sad I couldn't`t walk down the streets of Alfonso Lopez (Dave's area), I was sad I couldn't`t try talking with taxi drivers anymore.  In that dream I was homesick for Colombia.  The funny thing was I woke up from that dream when I moved my arm and my fan by my bed without a cover smacked my fingers a couple times so that freaked me out and then I remembered, "Oh yeah, I am in Colombia" haha.

I also had a dream Colombians were speaking to me in English and I couldn't`t understand them and they couldn't`t understand my Spanish.  That one was funny.

This week was a little frustrating with the investigators because we had plenty of investigators commit to coming to church, but not a single investigator came.  They all slept in and wouldn`t answer their phones or their doors. We have a new investigator that we met at church though, his name is Louis and he moved here from Medellin.  I am excited to continue working with him.

Although the thing with church was a little discouraging Elder Peña is awesome.  He bought  me some Arepas con Huevos with some Pony Malta to cheer me up.  And we had a good long discussion about the gift of Albedrío ( Agency ).  The reason it is so hard for me to see them not come to church is because I don`t want to leave these investigators behind, I want them and there families to receive these blessings forever.  But like Christ I will continue to offer my hand out to them, but it is there decision to take my help.

One of the taxi drivers we talked to today knew a guy who was 116 years old.  So that was an interesting discussion haha.  They have price marts here and they are literally the Costco of Colombia.  They have the cards and everything.  They also have peanut butter and Dr. Pepper and tons of American stuff in them so that was fun to see.

Until next week,
My fan.
