A Couple of Weeks in Colombia

Buenos Tardes

First off, Congrats to Lindy for the wedding.  Sorry I couldn't`t make it.

This week for me was also very busy.  It started off with Monday, we got off the computers and got to work and halfway through the night my companion gave me a paper he printed out at the Internet.  It was a hard week for him because it was a dear John.  For the first few days of the week he didn`t want to get up on time or work and it was a little rough for him.  I just kept working because he didn`t want to talk much.  I had an exchange with a Elder from the Philippines this last week. (It was funny because he was born in Hawaii so he speaks perfect English) I asked for him to pray for my companion and I to get the work done that we needed to this week.  It worked because the next night at about 10:30 when I was laying in my bed my companion told me, "Elder Fuell, I`m sorry, I hope you can forgive me" I told him I had forgave him a long time ago and the next morning he got up and we got to work.

Saturday we had a baptism.  I have the photos but I can`t send them because we don`t have an adapter.  It was great.  He asked me to baptize him even though I don`t have a lot of time in the area.  It was a real honor.  The day of the baptism we got soaked.  1. Because it was raining a ton in Baranoa 2. Because I got to baptize. =)  I found an adapter and will be able to send some pictures.

Baptism of Hiber

Tomorrow I have an exchange with our zone leaders and I will be going to my first Area Alfonso Lopez in the exchange.  I`m really excited it should be really interesting.  Today we were over in my first area playing soccer and after we finished we went to a small bread store and the clerk recognized me and was asking me where I have been for the last year.  I thought that was super funny that I was recognized in a panadería like that.  It shows where I spent a lot of time haha

Also something funny about the week is that the people here in Barranquilla are preparing for las carnavales (Carnival) and here in Baranoa they had some pre-carnavales and were doing some weird stuff.  There were people dressing up as animals walking around in the street begging for money. Apparently it is something they do every year.  I was laughing so hard when I saw some little kids running for their dear lives from a man chasing them dressed as a panda.  Haha Colombia is awesome.

Thanks dad for the update I hope that your week was great and I am excited to watch movies and play video games on your new projector after the misson. =)

Just to tell you how the gospel is here in Colombia and how newer members interpret different rules because they're so new to the gospel.  Just remember the Savior is perfect and His laws are too.  He gives his laws to imperfect men and we mess things up.  So we have this investigator named Hiber and we couldn't baptize him because he was living with his girlfriend and they are not married.  So I was talking to my companion about them this Tuesday and he told me they were not living together anymore.  So I asked him why he hadn`t been baptized.  He told me because they were still boyfriend and girlfriend.  I asked him if they were still breaking the law of chastity and he said no.  So we went and talked to Hiber and they haven`t broken the law of chastity for like 2 months so we had a baptismal interview and everything and he`s getting baptized this week and he asked me to baptize him.  Yesterday he told us that his girlfriend just got a blood test and it turns out that she`s 2-3 months pregnant.  So after the baptism they are also going to get married.  He`s a really cool guy.  He`s already read the Book of Mormon two times. 😊
It was funny because my companion didn`t know he could get baptized if he has a girlfriend.
So we are working with Hiber and with the members and we are focusing a lot in our teaching.
Thanks for all the help and prayers.  I love you guys a ton and I will pray for you guys and try to send photos this next week.

I have to go because the members are cooking us dinner.  Woohoo.
