Another Great Week in Colombia - Santa Marta

We had baptisms this last week.

This week has been a little crazy, my companion and I have continued looking for an apartment and we were working really hard preparing this baptism this week.  Finding new investigators has been a little rough, but a missionary has got to do what a missionary has got to do.  When we went to the church on Saturday morning to fill the baptismal font the water was coming out brown.  So we had to keep the water running until clean water would start coming and then drain it.  Clean water never came.  Also, the drain didn`t work.  So my companion and I ended up using trash cans to drain the water manually for an hour and a half.  It was fun.  But it took up a lot of time and I am still a little sore.  Then we ended up going to one of the other branches here in Santa Marta and we baptized them there with some other missionaries that also had a baptism.

Sunday we were in meetings all day because we are doing service with the self reliance services of the church here in the South American Northwest area of the church.  They are doing a pilot system here in Santa Marta working with the missionaries in these classes.  We basically teach about financial literacy for 2 hours once a week.  Theres a manual and we just facilitate the discussion.  They suggested us just to have a large focus in the gospel as we teach.

It seems like a very interesting program and that it will help a lot of people, especially Venezeulans that don`t have anywhere to go and are in need of jobs and financial opportunities.

I also was reading a lot this week that really changed my attitude for the week.  One I read today.  It`s by Elder Holland, called the First and Great Commandment.  It`s a talk about our loyalty to the lord during this last dispensation and if we really truly love the lord.I also finished the 3rd book of Nephi.  I`ve come to the subtle conclusion as I have in many studies that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.

Thanks for all your support I love you guys.  Have an incredible week.
